Having a warm beverage during a long flight, or frequent travel does wonders for the body. In Ayurveda, it is believed that Vata Dosha gets severely aggravated when the body is made to travel long distances. This results in pain, fatigue and the very dreaded jetlag that follows. To avoid the nuisances of aggravated Vata, try to stick to warm beverages, rather than cold ones, (especially with ice). A good cup of tea should have a pinch of black pepper. The warming qualities of Black Pepper counteract bloating, gas, constipation and overall discomfort and keeps Vata Dosha in balance.
So often in life, we shrug off the inner voice that guides us. When something doesn't feel right, we usually get that little notion within ourselves to change something about the situation. They do not give up in a fight, and are witty, sarcastic and extremely intelligent. On the negative end of the spectrum, Pitta constitutions can be judgmental and adament about having their own way. Their dominating elements are Fire and Water. Ojas is the essence or nectar of the 7 bodily tissues (Plasma - Blood - Muscle - Fat - Bone - Marrow - Reproductive Fluid.) In Western terms, it is referred to as the body's immunity. It is far more than this however. Ojas is the binding fluid that exists in every cell of our body, protecting us continuously as we interact with other people and nature. It is often described as our body's ability to fight disease. Without this protective shield, our body is prone to rapid and severe aging, both physically and mentally. Apart from not having energy to function and perform daily tasks, we may become forgetful, absent-minded and unmotivated. Ojas is called our vital force, because it does just that - it gives us vitality, strength, enthusiasm and courage.
Massaging the face and neck area everyday with warm Coconut Oil or Sesame Oil, reduces wrinkles and fine lines, and further prevents them from occurring. Always remember to massage in an upward and outward motion. This also helps to detox the skin. The longer and more vigorous you massage, the better the effect. Wait atleast 20mins for the oil to absorb into the skin, before putting any makeup on.
